Is permanent makeup really a tattoo?
Yes, the term “permanent makeup” means cosmetic tattoo or Intradermal micro pigmentation. Very fine needles are used that only go directly under the second (epidermal) layer of skin, giving the appearance of a more natural look than with traditional cosmetics.
What are some of the common procedures?
Our customers often choose eyeliner, eyebrow creation or enhancements, lip color, and beauty marks as their most requested applications. But we also do many other procedures, including the re-pigmentation of areolas, scar camouflage, and more.
Does it hurt?
We offer the use of numbing creams and other methods to keep you comfortable, and take care to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.
How long does a procedure take?
Count on about 2 hours per session, and less for touchups.
Are these procedures safe?
Yes! Karma uses a new, one-time set of disposable tattoo equipment for each customer, our staff is fully trained and licensed, and the pigments are FDA approved.
How long does it take to heal?
Most of our customers are able to go back to work after one to two days with no obvious signs visible to others. There may be some swelling with eyeliner and lip procedures, whereas there’s virtually no swelling with eyebrows. Full healing generally takes about three weeks, after your skin completes a subtle exfoliation. After healing, the enhancement can be enjoyed for years.
How long does permanent makeup last?
The color enhancement will soften over time. After your initial procedure, we recommend that you stop back in 3 to 6 weeks for your first touch-up. After that, you should have your makeup analyzed once a year. This is when lips and eyeliner typically need enhancement, while eyebrows may last two or even three years. The cost of a touch up is only a fraction of the initial cost. Exposure to the elements and other factors will affect your personal results.
Can I remove my permanent makeup if I change my mind?
We will work with you to make sure your procedures and colors are applied conservatively, especially the first time around. It’s easier to add color than to take it away, so we always begin with a consultation to discuss your wishes and options.
